When it comes to insuring your belongings (this is frequently called valuation), My Moving Guys provides the basic moving insurance which is effective the moment our movers first handle your belongings and until your items reach your final destination.
However, our coverage provided at no cost to you is only basic standard coverage of $0.60 per pound per article as required by the California Household Goods Carrier Act and the California Public Utilities Commission and their MAX 4 Tariff. Since this is a basic coverage you need to understand that, if your 30 pound flat-screen TV is damaged, we’re required to reimburse in the amount of $18.00 ($0.60 x 30 pounds = $18.00). Therefore, we highly recommend purchasing additional moving insurance coverage (a “third party insurance”) which you can obtain through www.emoveinsurance.com or any other similar insurance company. Usually moving insurance companies offer very affordable move polices between 1% to 2% of the total value of your item(s) while insuring them for their full value.
Full coverage of your belongings is your responsibility to arrange for and is not offered by My Moving Guys. My Moving Guys representatives will offer you any help with the filing of such a claim, if the need arises. Once the claim is submitted, My Moving Guys will cooperate fully with the customer to make sure the damages are repaired to the Customer’s satisfaction or the Customer is otherwise compensated for such damages in full compliance with the law
